Dhalak Vegetarian Platter
I met up with my friend Monica the other night for dinner. We often to go Dhalak to drink on their back patio, but hadn’t eaten there in ages. After ordering their vegetarian platter (ignore all those beef tibs – they just combined our meals on one tray), I remembered why. While the food is perfectly satisfactory, they don’t have a single spicy dish featured (and the spice sauce you can ask for on the side” doesn’t add much kick) and they leave out my favorite dish – the green lentils with jalapeno. Also, at about $15, the platter costs more than others in the neighborhood. I say this with love and full support of my community businesses, but with so many Ethiopian restaurants in West Philadelphia, Dhalak either needs to step-up the flavors, or lower the price of their platters.
